George R.R. Martin reveals what he will do after the publication of ‘The Winds of Winter’, the next ‘Game of Thrones’ novel

The long-awaited novel has been delayed for more than a decade and is still unfinished.

‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ may not premiere until 2025, but George R.R. Martin has already had a chance to watch the six episodes that make up the show’s first season. The author of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ is enthusiastic about the new ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off, which has a different tone from that of the main series. It also bears no resemblance to House of the Dragon, as it is set in a time when reptiles are extinct. In his official blog post, the author mentioned ‘The Winds of Winter’, the long-awaited new novel in the saga. And no, he did not give a release date, although he did say what he will do next.

“Meanwhile, we’ll be moving on to ‘The Sworn Sword,’ the second tale of Dunk & Egg. And once I finish ‘The Winds of Winter’, I will need to get hopping on ‘The Village Hero,’ and all the other tales that await the lads. Don’t worry, I am sure you folks will remind me.” This will be the fifth novel in the duo’s saga that has yet to be written.

So what about ‘The Winds of Winter’?

As far as ‘The Winds of Winter’ is concerned, the latest news is not very flattering. Although Martin still sees it as his top priority, he admitted that he might never finish it: “That’s still a priority. A lot of people are already writing obituaries for me. [They’re saying] ‘Oh, he’ll never be finished.’ Maybe they’re right. I don’t know. I’m alive right now! I seem pretty vital!” he said.

Whether ‘The Winds of Winter’ is published or not, Martin is still very active in series production. Although he criticized the second season of ‘House of the Dragon’, the writer is still developing series with HBO.
