George R.R. Martin is very excited about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
The next spin-off of Game of Thrones, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, gets the very excited approval of author George R. R. Martin.
‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ is the next series from the universe of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, inspired by the book of the same name, which is a compilation of three stories published in 1998, 2003, and 2010 respectively. Its author, George R.R. Martin, has spoken in his blog about the series, praising it while giving interesting details about it.
The popular writer has already seen a preliminary version of the first chapter of the series, highlighting that he loves it and stating that its tone will be very different from what ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘House of the Dragon’ have shown: “You may find the tone quite different from that of GAME OF THRONES or HOUSE OF THE DRAGON; smaller in scale, more personal, with more humor, more focus on character… but there is danger and death as well. Lords and ladies and princes it has, but they share the stage with more smallfolk this time around.”
A long-awaited prequel to the universe of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’
George R.R. Martin highlights that the series adapts “The Hedge Knight”, the first of the three stories that make up the work. He also spoke about his visit to the set, noting that “I visited the set in Northern Ireland in July and loved what I saw. Great cast, Duncan and Egg look like they came out of the pages of my book. My readers are going to love them. I love them. “The showrunner, Ira Parker, is doing a great job.”
‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ confirmed last September that it had already finished filming and was entering the post-production phase. A spin-off that has been filmed mostly in Northern Ireland and the premiere of its seasons aims to alternate year by year along with ‘House of the Dragon’. The series will have a total of six episodes at its premiere and is expected to arrive in mid-2025, showing in its first season the first of the three stories that make up the work, originally published in 1998 and which narrates the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg.
