Rome was not built in a day, let alone the return of one of Ridley Scott’s most important films after 24 years. ‘Gladiator 2′ has been cooking with much anticipation, revealing little by little details about the story, the renowned actors who will be involved, and those details that, little by little, convince us that yes, we do need a sequel. A week after the first images were released, today the film’s own social media account has given us the first poster, which puts Paul Mescal in the center of everything, ready to entertain us.

In addition to giving us this first poster, the social media post also reminds us of the trailer’s release date, which was expected to arrive along with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, but will arrive much earlier, tomorrow, July 9. Hopefully, it will entertain us.

‘Gladiator 2′, an unexpected sequel

‘Gladiator’ is one of the most outstanding films of Ridley Scott’s career. Released in 2000, it had an ending that made no one think it would have a sequel, but now, more than two decades later, we will have its theatrical release with Scott who is a few days away from turning 87.

Not many actors and actresses from the first movie are returning, with Connie Nielsen in the role of Lucilla being one of the few. Her son, Lucius Verus, will star in this sequel, but it will not be Spencer Treat Clark who returns to play the nephew of Emperor Commodus, a role taken by Paul Mescal. One of the actors most expected to be seen in ‘Gladiator 2′ was Djimon Hounsou, a very recognizable face and that everything indicated that he would return to play Jubo, the slave friend of Maximus, but in the end, he will not be part of the movie. On the other hand, Derek Jacobi, who was Senator Gracchus in the original film, will be there.

For now, the movie has moved up its release date by a week and will be hitting theaters on November 15.
