Giant Skull
God of War 3 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order creator Stig Asmussen returns with new Dungeons & Dragons game
Giant Skull and Wizards of the Coast team up to forge an epic adventure in the D&D universe.

Dungeons and Dragons has seen a significant growth in popularity in recent years, and after the success that Baldur’s Gate III had in 2023, it is not surprising that new titles inspired by this property want to come out. Now, Giant Skull, the studio of Stig Asmussen, director of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, has announced that it will be responsible for making a new action-adventure title set in the vast world of this role-playing game.
The news comes hand in hand with an exclusive publishing agreement with Wizards of the Coast, the company behind Dungeons & Dragons. This strategic move seeks to expand the digital presence of the iconic role-playing franchise, and what better way to do so than with a team led by a game director with such an impressive track record.
“Our talented and experienced team at Giant Skull is built on creativity and curiosity,” Asmussen wrote in a statement accompanying today’s announcement. “Our goal is to craft a rich new Dungeons & Dragons universe filled with immersive storytelling, heroic combat, and exhilarating traversal that players will fully embrace.” For now, the details of this game are limited, although for now it is known that the game is in development for PC and consoles, using Unreal Engine 5 as the engine.

Dungeons and Dragons grows in video games
Giant Skull’s next title is not the only thing set in the rules of this role-playing game. On the one hand, we have Starbreeze, developer of PayDay, working on a live-service co-op. Also, Gameloft Montreal is working on a new game that promises to be a mix of co-op adventures, real-time survival, and action. On the other hand, Tactical Adventures is working on Solasta II, which, although not going under the Dungeons and Dragons name, has an agreement to use the game’s rules. From the looks of it, there will be different ways to play in the future.
