Goodbye to Alan Ritchson: The DCU’s Batman seems to have been cast, and you’ll have a hard time recognizing him
A well-known insider claims that DC Studios has already cast an actor for the new Batman in the DCU: an unexpected choice that isn’t winning over all fans.

It doesn’t seem like ‘Supergirl’ has done too well at the box office, so Paramount is surely asking James Gunn to start bringing out the heavy artillery. While Wonder Woman looks like she’ll have a Latin name (Adria Arjona and Eva De Dominici are being mentioned), we’re still far from knowing who will play Batman. However, according to a superhero movie expert, the actor has already been chosen, though many fans will be disappointed with his selection.
It was John Campea—who has his own podcast on Spotify and YouTube—who claims that Gunn has already made the decision.
“I think I know who Batman is. I think I know who DCU Batman is. I think [DC’s] cast him,” Campea begins. “I had somebody write to me about a particular person that they believe it just got cast. I get a lot of those I don’t pay attention to a lot of them. But then, I heard from somebody else who’s a little bit more well positioned that verified that it looks like this is the guy and they don’t know I talked to the first person at all.”

“So, I sent that pick to a Hollywood producer I know and like what do you think?,” the host continues. “So, I think I know who it is. I’m not going to say it right now, but I will say this: it’s not a name I would’ve guessed and I don’t think it’s a bad name, but it’s not a name I would’ve guessed. Yeah, not a name I would’ve guessed. I’m going to keep putting out feelers because I don’t want to say who I believe is going to be the next Batman until I’m a little more certain because yeah, I don’t want to spread misinformation. So, we’ll see.”
Who is the top contender to play Batman?
Although the host goes to great lengths to avoid mentioning a specific name, everything points to Tom Brittney being the chosen one. Social media went wild when it was hinted that the actor in question was named Tom, and quite a few fans speculated that the name was none other than Tom Holland. However, the name making the most noise right now is that of this 35-year-old British actor, whom we’ve seen in movies like ‘Back in Action’ and ‘Movie Stars Don’t Die in Hollywood,’ as well as TV series such as ‘Grantchester’ and ‘The Westies.’ Even so, for now, this name should be taken with a grain of salt until DC Studios officially announces the casting of the Dark Knight.

Everything we know about the DCU’s Batman
For now, aside from the fact that Andy Muschietti will direct and Christina Hodson will write the screenplay, not much is known. The two formed a creative team on ‘The Flash,’ a film that isn’t particularly fondly remembered by DC fans, although there was speculation that it would eventually become part of the canon of the current DC Universe. Meanwhile, although it’s been a long time since it was first discussed, it seems the plan is to adapt Scottish writer Grant Morrison’s run on the character, introducing several members of the Bat-family, such as Damian Wayne, Nightwing, and Batgirl. This seems particularly plausible given that there’s already a lone Batman portrayed by Robert Pattinson, while some of these heroes have never been seen on the big screen.
