GTA 6 on Xbox Series S? Take-Two boss clears up doubts
“I’m not really worried.”
The upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6 at the end of next year is still on track, according to the latest financial report from Take-Two, the company behind Rockstar Games. Everything continues to point to the new installment in the hugely popular franchise coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. However, one question remains with what little we have seen of the first trailer, will this game be able to run smoothly on the Xbox Series S? the entry-level console of this generation for Xbox. The top management of the company has a clear answer.
During Take-Two’s recent earnings call, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of the company, was asked if the Xbox Series S will receive the title. For him, the answer is very clear, considering that he is not worried. “Look, we support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech. Our labels are really good at that. I’m not really worried,” Zelnick said. “If one platform diminishes in value, there’s always another one. So we’re seeing great growth in PC right now, for example.”
It is worth remembering that the Xbox Series S is a console with much lower technical specifications than its Series X counterpart and the PlayStation 5. In the past, this console has caused titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3 to be delayed on the Xbox family of consoles.
Will Grand Theft Auto VI be released on PC?
On the other hand, although Zelnick mentioned PC, GTA VI will not be coming to that platform for now. Zelnick mentioned that PC is becoming “more and more important” to Take-Two. “The bottom line is that we are selective about which platforms we support. We make the technology work when we can make it work, as long as the audience is large enough to make it worthwhile,” he said. Remember that traditionally, the franchise has always been released for consoles first.
