Baldur’s Gate III surprises on Xbox the same night it wins Game of the Year

The winner of Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, and 2023 Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023 is finally coming to Xbox Series X|S.

Update:
Baldur's Gate 3 GOTY 2023 oficial The Game Awards

It was without a doubt a great night for Baldur’s Gate III. A success story that neither its developers, Larian Studios, expected when the game was released and that ended with a total of 6 awards on the night, including the coveted Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023, positioning itself as one of the titles that will now go down in video game history as one of the best.

Along with this great victory, Larian Studios announced before the last award that Baldur’s Gate III is now available on the Xbox X Series X|S, finally bringing this great RPG to this family of consoles. The title is priced at $69.99 for the standard version and $79.99 for the deluxe digital edition. A third option allows us to access the content of the Digital Deluxe Edition when we first purchase the standard version for only $9.99.

It is worth remembering that the process for the game to reach Xbox consoles was long. First it arrived on PC, and shortly after it was released its version for PlayStation 5. However, the version for Xbox Series X|S took a long time to arrive due to problems in optimizing the multiplayer functions in Series S, a task that its developers saw impossible to solve before 2024. It looks like they made it just in time.

A night of small victories for Xbox

Not only was Larian Studios the big winner of the night, taking home awards for Best Performance, Best Community Support, Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, and Player’s Voice, as well as the coveted Game of the Year award, but it was also a special night for Xbox.

Despite not having a strong title to compete for the Game of the Year award, it did manage to get some of its exclusives onto the field, with Hi-Fi Rush winning Best Audio Design and Forza Motorsport taking home the Innovation in Accessibility and Best Sports/Racing awards. Starfield, however, got nothing.
