Gunnar Cyberpunk Dex: A themed design that prioritizes visual comfort over discretion
We tested these Cyberpunk 2077-inspired glasses and let you know if they’re worth the premium price.
Over the months, Gunnar has introduced various models that combine its focus on eye care with video game franchises. In previous years, we’ve seen collaborations with Call of Duty and Fallout, and more recently with The Witcher. Early last month, the brand unveiled one of its latest releases, bringing the world of Cyberpunk 2077 squarely into the realm of visual comfort. After nearly a month of using the Cyberpunk Dex model, here are our impressions of a unique yet eye-catching design.
What’s in the box?
The Gunnar Cyberpunk Dex glasses come with a set of accessories to enhance your experience. The package includes:
- The Gunnar Cyberpunk Dex glasses
- A padded protective case
- A microfiber cleaning cloth featuring a map of Night City
Design and Comfort
It would be incorrect to say that the Gunnar Cyberpunk Dex are no different from the brand’s other glasses. The model manages to recreate, to a certain extent, the design of the glasses worn by Dexter DeShawn. Their aesthetic may be divisive, as it is not a design intended for traditional everyday use; however, given the inspiration—as with any themed accessory—it will depend on the user whether they find the visual appeal to their liking.
The frame is quite large and covers the lenses well, giving a sense of durability. The details on the temples are an important part of the experience, as they reinforce the product’s thematic design. One standout feature is the bridge design, which keeps the lens continuous without a central separation, eliminating the blind spot typically found in this type of eyewear. Additionally, although the lens includes graphic details—such as the brand logo—these are positioned outside the functional field of view and do not interfere with vision.
In terms of fit, despite their size, the glasses fit the face well, staying firmly in place even when tilting the head downward. The lateral pressure is comfortable, and despite the design’s robust appearance, they do not feel heavy during prolonged use.
As is typical for the brand, the lens features a slight magnification. This detail can improve the clarity of text and on-screen elements, especially during extended reading sessions, although it requires a brief adjustment period for those unfamiliar with this type of correction. The amber tint fulfills its primary function: reducing exposure to blue light and alleviating eye strain during long hours in front of the computer. In office settings or while gaming at night, the difference becomes noticeable after several hours of use.
Price and Options
The Cyberpunk Dex model has a base price of $125 and includes all the accessories mentioned. On the official website, it is available in a standard version, with custom prescription lenses, and in different lens options: amber, amber max—closer to the design worn by Dexter DeShawn—or even as sunglasses.

The Gunnar Cyberpunk Dex are a product that doesn’t aim to go unnoticed, and in that sense, they clearly achieve their goal. These glasses are designed primarily for fans of Cyberpunk 2077 and for users who spend long hours in front of a screen, prioritizing visual comfort over aesthetic discretion. Their design is eye-catching and may be polarizing, but it is well-executed, comfortable despite their size, and maintains the brand’s usual quality standards. In terms of functionality, the amber tint and slight magnification effectively serve their purpose by reducing eye strain during extended sessions, whether for work or gaming. While their price places them in a premium segment and their aesthetic doesn’t make them a universal choice, the Cyberpunk Dex stands out as a solid option for those seeking a themed accessory with real benefits for eye health, without sacrificing comfort or build quality.
