The Halo Infinite multiplayer’s future is changing with the announcement that Season 5 will be the last of its kind, with 343 leaving behind seasonal content.

Halo Infinite Season 5 will be its last as devs confirm they’re moving away from the seasonal model

Halo Infinite is preparing for its next big update, which will arrive on January 30, with 343 Industries making their usual live broadcast in which they detaile everything that is going to come to the game. But this time we got a pretty big surprise: nothing about season 6 of the game, with the company waiting until the end of the live to announce the news that there will be no sixth season, thus moving away from this content model that so many multiplayer games use. “We have a dedicated team working on supporting Halo Infinite and continuing to deliver going forward, but also, yes, we have additional teams now that are accelerating towards the future, working on brand new projects,” said Brian Jarrard, Halo community director at 343 Industries.

The future of Halo Infinite

Has Microsoft thrown in the towel with Halo Infinite and its multiplayer aspect? A title that is greatly enjoyed in this aspect, although the video game industry and the majority of players move away from this type of more classic proposals, close to the arena shooter although with a very marked personality that makes Halo something unique. Without the seasonal model, 343 Industries will continue to create “Operation” events that will have shorter battle passes of 20 levels total and lasting between four and six weeks. Throughout 2024 there will continue to be content, but it is possible that many fans of the game feel this news is the beginning of the end in terms of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer.

In our review, Meristation said that “Halo Infinite is the installment that the saga needed. If we were in a tennis match, 343 Industries would have won a match point. The team gave in, imposing its only creative vision to return to square one. Because Bungie left the path marked in its day, and it was nothing more than just modernizing an immortal formula. We hear the same old melodies again; We fight again against the fierce Covenant as always; We once again vibrate with the Master Chief in an adventure that we can only find in the Halo brand.”
