The screening of Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny in Cannes was a waterfall of emotions that even surpassed Harrison Ford himself, an actor with a reputation for being stoic who has never given in to emotionalism in public, but who was on the verge of tears while receiving the affection of the public and the organization before what will be his last performance of Indiana Jones in theaters, as he stated recently.

Things were already getting off to a strong start before the screening, with a surprise appearance by the festival’s director, Thierry Fremaux, announcing a surprise Palme d’Or for Harrison Ford’s career, accompanied by a montage of some of the actor’s stellar moments. Visibly excited, the actor took the microphone to thank the award: “I’m very moved by this. They say when you’re about to die, you see your life flash before your eyes, and I just saw my life flash before my eyes. A great part of my life, but not all of my life. My life has been enabled by my lovely wife, who has supported my passion and my dreams, and I’m grateful.”

After these words addressed to his wife, Calista Flockhart, he addressed the audience. “I love you, too. But I’ve got a movie you ought to see. It’s right behind me. So let me get out of the way, and thank you again for this great honor.” However, the public was not going to let him get away so easily. After the film, the audience stood up to give a standing ovation to Ford, who could barely hold back the tears while thanking the expressions of affection.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be released on June 30th in movie theaters around the world.
