Harrison Ford’s emotional speech at the 2026 SAG Actor Awards is a love letter to cinema: “I’m indeed a lucky guy”

The veteran actor from ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ received an important award for his long career in the industry, and he expressed his gratitude in the best way possible.

Update:

Harrison Ford took to the stage at the 2026 SAG Actor Awards to collect the lifetime achievement award, the most important award given by the SAG-AFTRA actors’ union. The actor made the audience laugh with his characteristic humor, but also moved them deeply with a beautiful speech in which he demonstrated all the love he feels for his profession and for cinema in general.

“The work I do with other actors is one of the great joys of my life. Sometimes we make entertainment. Sometimes we make art. Sometimes we’re lucky, we make them both at the same time, and if we’re really fortunate, we also get to make a living doing it. Success in this business brings a certain freedom that comes with the responsibility to support each other, to lift others up when we can, to keep the door open for the next kid, the next lost boy who’s looking for a place to belong. I’m indeed a lucky guy. Lucky to have found my people. Lucky to have work that challenges me. Lucky to still be doing it. And I don’t take that for granted,” Ford said, on the verge of tears.

Is Harrison Ford’s retirement approaching?

Harrison Ford is now 83 years old, and following comments he made after the premiere of the third season of Therapy Without Filters, many of his fans assumed that his retirement could be near. In fact, the actor himself said that he wouldn’t mind if the Apple+ series were his last project. However, the possibility of retirement seems to have diminished with his speech at the SAC Actor Awards. At one point, the actor joked that he is still in the middle of his career and that “it’s still a little early” to give him an award like this.

At the same time, Ian McKellen, another renowned actor aged 86, spoke more clearly about a possible retirement. The actor who played Gandalf in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and Magneto in ‘X-Men’ made it clear that he will continue to take to the stage and act in front of the camera for as long as he has the strength to do so. Will the same happen with Ford?
