Hatsune Miku, the virtual idol born in Vocaloid, is the big news of Fortnite Festival Season 7, which kicks off on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. As usual, this artist is not limited to Fortnite’s music mode, but will be available in all game experiences, including the standard Battle Royale and LEGO Fortnite modes.

Editor’s note: This news will be updated with more details when Hatsune Miku is available in-game.

Here are Hatsune Miku’s new outfits in Fortnite: when they will be available and how to get them.

As Epic Games has revealed on the official Fortnite website, on January 14, 2025, content update 33.20 will arrive in the game, which is the one that includes both Hatsune Miku and other of her cosmetic items. The virtual diva arrives in the video game from that day on, and as usual in collaborations with musical artists, she has two different outfits: one exclusive to the Music Pass and another from the store. Hatsune Miku is the in-store outfit, while Hatsune Miku Neko is the one that comes with the Music Pass, which will be available until April 8, 2025.

To purchase the Hatsune Miku outfit from the store, you will need V-Bucks, Fortnite’s virtual currency. The current exchange rate is 1,000 V-Bucks = $8.99. On the other hand, while the Music Pass costs 1,400 V-Bucks, it can also be obtained at no additional cost if we are already subscribed to the Fortnite Crew, which costs $11.99 per month. In both cases, once we have purchased one of the two outfits - or both - they will be ours forever and we will be able to equip them whenever we want from the in-game locker.

In Hatsune Miku’s official artwork, we can see that she is accompanied by two exclusive accessories: her own backpack and a stele, which highlights her status as a virtual personality. On the other hand, Hatsune Miku Neko differs from the classic in her appearance and clothing: she wears a cap and sunglasses, as well as an additional style that is much more colorful than her basic outfit, with purple gradients in the strands of hair around her face.

These are all the Hatsune Miku items in the Fortnite store:

  • Hatsune Miku Outfit
  • Pack-sune Miku Back Bling
  • Miku Live Emote
  • Miku Miku Beam Emote
  • Miku Light Contrail
  • Hatsune’s Mic-u

The two outfits of Hatsune Miku also have styles available for the different modes of LEGO Fortnite, so we can also play with her in these fun and varied modes where the characters and the game world look like the mythical toys of the company.

With the arrival of this new artist will also be present in the video game new instruments based on her, such as a new bass, a microphone and a different keytar, which stand out for following color schemes similar to those of Hatsune Miku, as well as the presence of her everlasting leeks, one of the characteristic elements of the character.

Hatsune Miku’s debut in Fortnite at this time is no coincidence, as Chapter 6 Season 1 of the video game has a strong Japanese setting and aesthetic. As a very popular virtual idol in the Land of the Rising Sun, it is fitting that this artist arrives at this stage of the game. Following Hatsune Miku’s arrival, Snoop Dogg, the previous guest star, will leave the in-game store and his Music Pass will expire.

This is a significant addition, as prior to Miku’s arrival in Fortnite, there were only flesh-and-blood guest stars such as Lady Gaga or Billie Eilish. Hatsune Miku’s debut is important because it means that Epic Games is also considering singers and musicians who, despite not having a physical presence, are inspiring passions around the world and holding successful concerts.
