HBO will not halt filming of House of the Dragon Season 2 due to either the actors’ or screenwriters’ strike

In April, the HBO series managed to get around the hiatus by completing the script in advance.

Update:
La Casa del Dragón - Temporada 2

Season 2 of Dragon House continues filming despite the fact that the entertainment world (especially Hollywood) is amid a tumultuous moment, the first joint strike by actors and screenwriters in more than 60 years. In early May, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) called a strike over working conditions and wages that they felt were unfair. Now the main actors’ union, SAG-AFTRA, has announced that it will join the strike, which has made little progress in negotiations.

However, it seems that many shows and movies have managed to avoid the shutdowns because their production and filming occur in countries outside the United States. This is the case with the Game of Thrones spin-off.

The big stumbling block for those who want to join the strike on the other side of the Atlantic is, quite simply, that U.S. rules and laws do not apply in the U.K. or Europe. That’s why the UK’s largest actors’ union, Equity UK, has provided its members with a guide on how to proceed:

“Equity U.K. will support SAG-AFTRA and its members by all lawful means,” wrote the union. “Consequently, a performer joining the strike (or refusing to cross a picket line) in the UK will have no protection against being dismissed or sued for breach of contract by the producer or the engager. Likewise, if Equity encourages anyone to join the strike or not cross a picket line, Equity itself will be acting unlawfully and hence liable for damages or an injunction.”

Will House of Dragon Season 2 be delayed?

The production and shooting of House of Dragon Season 2 has managed to dodge not one, but two strikes. The series was ahead of all these events thanks to the fact that the script was completed in advance. Now, various international laws make it complicated for there to be a major strike on an international scale that could stop the entertainment world, so it doesn’t look like there will be any delays with the Game of Thrones spin-off.
