HBO’s Harry Potter gets its first official look, kicking off series production

A new age of magic begins.

Update:

The Harry Potter TV series for HBO is becoming more and more of a reality. While throughout the year we began to know the actors who would give life to the characters within the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as well as the main trio, today we have the first official photo from the set, and thus starting the production of the series.

Harry Potter TV series begins production

Nearly 14 years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., the magic is rebooted. Through a photo we can see Dominic McLaughlin already in the mythical Hogwarts uniform, with Harry Potter’s characteristic round glasses, holding the clapperboard with which the filming of this series will begin.

Along with McLaughlin, the main trio is complemented by Alastair Stout as the new Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, who were selected from among 30,000 actors to bring these characters to life.

New actors enter the scene

In addition to announcing the start of filming for the series, along with the photo, new elements were revealed that add to the cast and expand this new version of the Wizardy World.

  • Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom
  • Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley
  • Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch
  • Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander

The series will transform each of the books into a season. According to information from Variety, filming of Season 1 is expected to last until spring 2026, with Season 2 beginning after a short break. With this, it was also confirmed that the series will be coming to HBO and HBO MAX in 2027.
