Smallville’ is one of the most memorable shows of recent decades. When it premiered in 2001, it seemed to be the future of 'Superman', both on television and on the big screen, with Tom Welling in the lead role that became a phenomenon. In the end, its success did not extend beyond television, and now the American actor is once again in the news for a situation that is as complicated as it is unpleasant.

Tom Welling was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in Yreka, in northern California, near the border with Oregon, where he lives with his family. The artist was stopped in the car park of an Arby’s, a popular fast food chain with more than 3,000 locations nationwide. Welling was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood-alcohol level over the state’s legal limit of 0.08%, according to TMZ.

A complicated situation for the famous actor

The actor was released a few hours later without having to pay bail. Tom Welling continues to work as an actor, despite being away from the spotlight that made him one of the most popular figures on television worldwide for years. An unforgettable Clark Kent, who many believed would be the next Superman on the big screen, but that moment never came.

In recent years, he has appeared in ‘Batwoman’, ‘The Professionals’ and ‘The Winchesters’, as well as reprising his role in ‘Smallville’ during the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover a few years ago. At the age of 47, he remains a respected figure for those who have enjoyed a decade of ‘Smallville’.
