Here’s why people started leaving after the premiere of the latest ‘Mission: Impossible’ film

‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’ had its premiere at Cannes, but not everyone was able to catch the feature film.

Update:

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’ is finally in theaters. The eighth and final film in the saga, which works as a sequel to ‘Dead Reckoning′ (2023), will bring Tom Cruise‘s character, Ethan Hunt, to a close almost 30 years after Brian De Palma began the espionage and action saga. In this new installment, he will have to face an evil artificial intelligence that plans to take over the world.

The film had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, something strange considering that it is a blockbuster film than the auteur films usually screened on the Croisette. However, it was out of competition. Many viewers who are not used to seeing blockbusters at the festival left the room early when ‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’ was shown, as the combination of action, stunts and visual effects, coupled with the 3-hour running time, was too much for some.

A premiere full of luxuries

Despite the exit of some spectators, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’ has been well received at the Cannes Film Festival. Variety magazine called it a “lavish event” and, after the screening, the audience gave the film a five-minute standing ovation, which is customary at such film festivals. Tom Cruise was greeted like the Hollywood star he is and walked out onto the red carpet accompanied by his co-stars and an orchestra playing the iconic theme music of the franchise.

However, two of the actresses in the film ignored the dress code of the Cannes Film Festival by appearing with long tails and transparent garments, something that is forbidden. The Palme d’Or winner will be announced on May 24. Among the favorites are ‘Sound of Falling’, ‘Two Attorneys’ or ‘Alpha’.
