New textures added in the latest patch for Hi-Fi Rush hint at the acclaimed Xbox exclusive coming to other consoles. It’s no longer just a rumor.

Rumors about the launch of Hi-Fi Rush on PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch are gaining strength after the latest patch that the game has received. And it turns out that among the files added to this new content update were found textures of T-shirts that “celebrate” the launch of the game on Sony and Nintendo platforms. Thus, what was one of the great Xbox console exclusives in 2023 would soon cease to be so.

New textures in the latest Hi-Fi Rush patch support rumors of a PlayStation and Switch release

On January 26, 2024, Hi-Fi Rush received a patch to celebrate the game’s first anniversary. Among the files included in this patch were new exclusive t-shirts for each of the platforms and digital stores where this title has been available since its launch: Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. But there are also two more that hint that there will be PlayStation and Nintendo Switch versions.

T-shirts with the messages “I’m here baby!” with a blue background and “Rock out! Anywhere” with a red background imply that a PS4/PS5 and Nintendo Switch release is planned. Not only are the flagship colors of each of these platforms used as the background of these shirts, but each of these messages also adds context to the matter. PlayStation’s “I’m here baby!” suggests that “the impossible is made possible” by releasing an Xbox console-exclusive game on PlayStation, and the “Rock out! Anywhere” refers to the fact that Nintendo Switch is both a handheld and a desktop console.

Although Xbox has been releasing its games simultaneously on both consoles and PC (including not only the Microsoft Store but also Steam) for some time now, this relaunch wouldn’t set a strange precedent. Minecraft “wouldn’t count” because the game was already multiplatform before Xbox acquired Mojang. Yet, games like Ori and the Will of the Wisps, arrived to Nintendo Switch, while Cuphead ended on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. For now, nothing more is known about these PlayStation and Switch versions or if they will ever see the light, although by the existence of these files inside the game, we can say that at least at some point there were plans to launch Hi-Fi Rush on these platforms.

Hi-Fi Rush is a hack ‘n’ slash game with very unique rhythm mechanics. By attacking at the right moment and keeping up the tempo, our attacks and combos are more powerful, allowing us to eliminate the hordes of enemies that come our way faster. It is a title that stands out both sonically and visually for its colorful and fluid way of working. The game was surprisingly released on January 25th, 2023 on Xbox X Series X|S and PC (Microsoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store). With 87 on Xbox and 90 on PC, it is the highest-rated game published by Bethesda since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim with 96 on Xbox 360, 94 on PC, and 92 on PS3.
