Hideo Kojima confirms a Death Stranding live-action movie ‘Midsommar’ and ‘The Lighthouse’ producers

Kojima Productions and A24 have revealed they’re working together on a live-action adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding. This is everything we know so far.

Through a post on Instagram, A24 broke the Internet when they revealed that the production company that made films like ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, ‘The Lighthouse’, ‘The Whale’, and ‘Midsommar’ will work together with Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions for an adaptation of Death Stranding to the big screen, which is something that we all thought a possibility, yet no one saw coming.

It’s official: we’ve partnererd with Kojima Productions on the live-action feature film adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed video game, DEATH STRANDING”, said the film production company A24 on its X/Twitter account. In addition, they presented a t-shirt with the logo of the production company and the aesthetics of the video game in question, worn by Kojima himself, although it is not known if it will be sold as merch or not.

Kojima’s passion for cinema

The creator of Metal Gear Solid constantly uses his social networks to share his thoughts on movies that he likes, that inspire him, or releases of the year that he has seen in the cinemas of Japan. Furthermore, remember that in The Game Awards 2023, he presented OD, his new horror video game experiment together with Jordan Peele, director of films like ‘Get Out’ and ‘Nope’, which will be an exclusive for Xbox Series X|S, but does not yet have a release date.

Hideo Kojima, who in his Twitter biography points out that “70% of his body is made of movies”, has never hidden his admiration for people in the film industry, such as his photographs and work he has done with notable people such as Guillermo del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen.

For now, all that remains is for A24 to report more on the work together with Hideo Kojima, and if Norman Reedus will also be the protagonist of the Live Action adaptation of ‘Death Stranding’. As for when the public could see some progress in the form of an image, teaser or trailer, that is probably still a long time away from this deal.
