Gen V, the spin-off series of The Boys, has been a critical and popular success. The first three episodes of the series premiered last Friday on Prime Video, and already it stands out for its similarity to the work of which its universe is part, while at the same time having a clear identity of its own. Gen V is quickly becoming a cult classic, and a prominent figure in the video game industry has given his opinion about it. It is, of course, Hideo Kojima, a fan of the world of film and television, who has declared his passion for The Boys and its new spin-off.

“I love “THE BOYS,” so I watched an episode of its spin-off, “GEN V.” Is it a superhero school? A super power school Z or a “Euphoria” version of a super power? I was expecting something a little different, but it’s a direct school version of “THE BOYS”! They’ve gone all out! Blood, guts, and youth are all over the place! I was very satisfied! Oh, this is great. Thanks Eric! I will watch the next episode,” Kojima commented on X/Twitter, mentioning Eric Kripke, showrunner of The Boys and also in charge of Gen V.

Hideo Kojima, much more than video games

For the past few years, Kojima has been one of the most charismatic and unique figures in the video game industry. His unique cinematic style when directing his games has managed to capture the attention of a huge number of fans around the world, regardless of the apparent weirdness for which he’s typically accused of with his concepts and ideas. His passion for the seventh art is well known to all his followers, and his relationship with the world of cinema is total, and this is continually reflected on his social networks. The Japanese creative has managed to unite two worlds such as video games and cinema, bringing stars such as Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen to his works, giving them a leading role in a game.
