FromSoftware

Hidetaka Miyazaki (Elden Ring) issues an important warning to fans after learning that his new Switch 2 game is multiplayer

The studio head makes his position on future projects clear.

The Duskbloods From Software multijugador

Everyone was surprised to see that Nintendo managed to secure From Software’s next video game as an exclusive. The creators of Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls, among others, will jump into the Switch 2 adventure in 2026 with The Duskbloods. The video during the presentation promised to give the usual experience, but shortly after it could be known that it was a new multiplayer. Hidetaka Miyazaki wanted to dispel doubts about the future of the studio with a strong message to the fans.

Hidetaka Miyazaki is blunt: The Duskbloods will not change From Software’s focus

“As previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core, but this doesn’t mean that we as a company have decided to shift to a more multiplayer-focused direction with titles going forward,” Miyazaki begins in an interview provided to Nintendo. “The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring was also announced, and we still intend to actively develop single player focused games such as this that embrace our more traditional style.

Fans fear a change in direction. The Duskbloods is the second project in a row in which From Software has focused solely on the multiplayer experience. All of their recent projects have indeed had an online component, but they’ve always been essentially single-player titles. Elden Ring: Nighreign is the first to change this trend and is expected to be released on May 30th.
