Update:
HONOR surprises at IFA with new smartphones

HONOR today announced its new devices: the HONOR V Purse, the HONOR Magic V2 and a new color for the HONOR 90, during its opening presentation entitled “Unfold Tomorrow” at the IFA 2023 in Berlin, Germany.

Purse Smartphone

The HONOR V Purse is a new concept of “purse smartphone” that aims to be the forerunner of a new category of gadgets. This device changes the way we think about foldable smartphones with a series of customizable always-on displays that mimic a type of handbag, including design elements such as chains, feathers or tassels that react and merge with the natural movement of the smartphone. This device will also be complemented by a series of interchangeable straps and chains that connect to the hinge to be worn over the shoulder like a traditional handbag.

In addition, the HONOR V Purse incorporates sustainably sourced materials such as vegan leather for its straps, and its customizable, always-on displays are designed to eliminate the need to buy additional accessories, as they can be paired with any accessory or outfit.

Smart fashion

Part of the brand’s idea of sustainability lies in its alliances with creators such as BURBERRY’s Creative Director of Men’s Fashion Bram Van Diepen, Mexican contemporary artist Yunuen Esparza, China Academy of Art professor Yuan Youmin and crossover artist Xiao Hui Wang to design a series of always-on screens for the device. The interesting thing about this new concept is that it opens up the API interface so that other designers can use sensors such as gyroscope, touch or ambient light to have endless possibilities with external screens.

HONOR Magic V2 official announcement

HONOR also took the opportunity to reveal the final details of its latest foldable smartphone, which boasts to be the thinnest and lightest on the market, weighing only 231g and measuring 9.9mm thick when folded.

These devices incorporate the new generation of dual silicon and carbon batteries with an average thickness of only 2.72mm, achieving a capacity of 5,000mAh in a smaller space.

This folding device features a super-light titanium hinge developed by the brand, which can withstand more than 400,000 folds and guarantees a lifespan of up to ten years if the device is folded an average of 100 times a day.

Its three-camera configuration includes a 50-megapixel (f/1.9) main camera, a 50-megapixel (f/2.0) ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 20-megapixel (f/2.4) telephoto camera. On the other hand, the front cameras are 16MP (f/2.2).

Another built-in patent is 3840Hz PWM attenuation, which minimizes eye strain during extended use.

New color for the HONOR 90

Complementing these launches, the brand announced that the HONOR 90 has been named the Best Buy Smartphone 2023-2024 by the Expert Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) and will be launching a new color, Peacock Blue, worldwide to celebrate.
