How long is Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Main and side story hours of gameplay
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released on May 12 this year. We tell you about the approximate length of the story and its side quests.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is already here. Nintendo’s new adventure arrives to become another benchmark for the Nintendo Switch with a game that wants to break the mold and that at the moment, in terms of ratings, is already among the best rated of recent years on Metacritic. In MeriStation, we gave it a 10 and explained that it is the biggest title ever made by the Japanese company, so the question is clear: how long is the game for the main story and all its extras? We tell you below.
The first thing to know is that, unlike Breath of the Wild, you don’t have a direct main quest when you start that tells you to go defeat Ganon, like the game did six years ago. That doesn’t mean you can’t go straight to him if you know where he is (we don’t), but we’re going to give you an idea of how long it will take to complete the 20+ main quests and other extras.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Story length
To finish Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you will have to play about 45-50 hours if you want to complete the 23 main missions of the game. It is true that you can finish without doing them all, but if we stick to the steps that must be taken to get it, the time will be that. The reason is this: the game is much longer in its main storyline than Breath of the Wild, and there are many more tasks to complete both when we go to the four main regions (Gerudo, Zora, Goron, and Rito) and with everything that follows.
Also, to complete the story, you need at least 36 to 40 shrines to get the stamina and hearts you need for the adventure, so you can’t just do the main story and be done with it.
How long does it take to complete 100% of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
If you want to know how long it will take you to finish 100% of the game, you’d better take it easy and forget about buying other titles in a few months. The game has more than 150 shrines, hundreds of kologs, more than 130 side quests, and dozens of side adventures and extras.
We have calculated from what we have that you can complete all the shrines in about 90 hours, and there are still a handful of side quests left, many of them spectacular. So completing the game to 100% (we leave it up to you if that includes the kologs and taking pictures with the camera) will undoubtedly go over 120 hours. At least.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is coming to Nintendo Switch this Friday, May 12.
