How long will ‘Invincible’ last? Robert Kirkman says up to nine seasons are possible
The creator says the animated series is progressing exactly as originally planned.
Following the conclusion of ‘Invincible’ Season 4 this week and its renewal for a fifth season, the question arises as to how much longer the series might run. Its co-creator, Robert Kirkman, addressed the matter and stated that, if the original plan holds, the adaptation could run for up to nine seasons, provided Prime Video decides to do so.
In an interview with The Wrap, Kirkman discussed both the season finale and some changes made to the original comic, as well as the direction the series is heading. The author noted that the goal remains to wrap up the story in “seven, eight, nine seasons,” depending, of course, on Prime Video’s interest. And as he points out, everything is designed to wrap up storylines without adding anything more than is necessary. “We’re not going to start stories on this show with the plan of not continuing them and concluding them within the confines of this show,” he explained. “We’ll be touching on The Order plenty in future seasons, so there should be no fear.”
Last July, Kirkman had already mentioned that it would take “roughly seven to eight to nine seasons” to fully adapt ‘Invincible’, so everything seems to indicate that the project is moving forward as planned. For now, based on the comics, Mark’s story is roughly halfway through, so there is still enough material to sustain at least five more seasons.

The series ended this season on a major cliffhanger, and for now, it’s unclear when we’ll see it again. With summer still a few months away, there’s a chance that ‘Invincible’ might make an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, where at least a release window could be revealed. Perhaps early 2027?
