How much does a streamer earn for a Prime subscription on Twitch? All new changes

A noticeable cut in revenue from Twitch for content creators that catches many by surprise.

Update:
twitch prime

Dan Clancy, Twitch CEO, said this month after a round of layoffs that the streaming platform is not profitable. Some impact statements that served as a prelude to what was to come, and Twitch has announced changes, among which stands out the Prime subscription and the lower economic amount that this will give to streamers. Certain countries will be affected to a greater or lesser extent, with Spanish-speaking countries being one of the regions most affected by these changes.

How much does a Prime subscription cost for streamers in the United States?

The change in what streamers receive from the Prime subscription will come in a few months, starting on June 3, 2024. This subscription has been part of Twitch’s business model since 2016, and has been a major part of streamers’ earnings on the platform since then. The difference in what they will receive will average less than 5% in most territories, and it will not be a hard hit for most of streamers.

As mentioned in the official blog, “When we launched, we decided to make Prime Gaming subscription payouts the same as paid subscription payouts,” but in order to remain sustainable, this will change and fluctuate each year as needed. For now, the U.S. remains one of the top countries with $2.25 per Prime subscriber.

Prime subscriptions in other countries around the world

Other countries are also seeing changes, with Latin America being one of the hardest-hit regions. Countries like Argentina, Chile, and Mexico will now receive $0.95 for Prime, while Colombia will receive $0.75 per subscription. On the other hand, countries such as Turkey will receive $0.09 for Prime, a ridiculous figure that is surprising and could well be related to all the cases of money laundering discovered in the Eurasian country, which used Twitch as a platform to carry them out.
