How to download Minecraft’s April Fool’s Day 2024 special potato update?

It’s April 1st, and spring is now in full bloom. But disregard that, it’s April Fool’s Day! We’ve already taken a look at some of the biggest and most elaborated pranks the video game industry had prepared for fans today, but some of these jokes actually go a little bit further. Like for exampl, Mojang!

Titled the “Poisonous Potato Update”, snapshot 24w14potato is an entirely new update for Minecraft that actually brings new content to the game, except it’s all based around the game’s potatoes. They’ve actually been teasing the update for a while now, filling the official website with the eponymous poison potatoes, but now they’ve gone ahead and released it.

What is the Minecraft Poisonous Potato Update?

It’s a complete overhaul of the game! Inspired by the game’s poisonous potatoes, Mojang has basically transformed the entire game into potato-based fantasy. There are five different potato biomes (fields, hash, arboretum, corruption, and wasteland), a Colosseum with a powerful Potato boss, green rain (for some reason?), green lasers, new potato mobs that replace regular mobs, two new items (the potato peeler and the lashing potato), and more.

But most important of them all, there is a new Potato Portal that’ll transport you to the Potato Dimension. We’ll let you figure out that one by yourselves.

How do I install the Poisonous Potato update?

Installing the new snapshot is as easy as updating the game.
