The classic action star will be appearing in Mortal Kombat 1, and here’s how you can get your hands on him when the game launches this September.

Update:
How to get Jean-Claude Van Damme in Mortal Kombat 1?

This week we had the surprise announcement of the upcoming release of a new installment of Mortal Kombat. In the middle of the week, NetherRealm announced Mortal Kombat 1, a title that aims to be a reboot of the franchise, based on the last story DLC that its predecessor, Mortal Kombat 11, received. Among its multiple editions and announcements, there was one that stood out, since the actor and martial artist Jean Claude Van Damme would appear as a skin for the ever-charismatic Johnny Cage. In this article, we tell you how you will be able to get it.

How can we get Jean-Claude Van Damme  in Mortal Kombat 1?

As is tradition in the series, Mortal Kombat 1 will have its own dedicated Kombat Pack. It fills the usual Season Pass slot and gives access to the next six fighters to be added to the roster after launch, plus five more Kameo Fighters. As a bonus, you will receive a Jean-Claude Van Damme look for Johhny Cage on launch day. At the moment there are no pictures of what this skin will look like.

The Kombat Pack will be available for purchase separately and also included in the Premium and Collector’s Edition of the game.

Why is Jean-Claude Van Damme so important to Mortal Kombat?

A brief history of gaming. Before it became Mortal Kombat, the fighting title created by Ed Boon and John Tobias was supposed to be inspired by Van Damme’s movie Universal Soldier. However, this did not happen, and Johnny Cage’s character ended up being based on the martial artist, even using almost the same clothes that the actor wore in the movie Bloodsport. Van Damme’s appearance in this game finally closes a cycle.

Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled for release on September 19, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. A closed beta is planned for August for those who pre-order the game for the first two consoles.
