Elden Ring Nightreign features eight playable characters, but two of them, Duchess and Revenant, must be unlocked through gameplay. These characters offer unique abilities, making them valuable additions to your roster. Here’s how to unlock them.
How to Unlock the Duchess
The Duchess is a dexterity-based rogue, specializing in stealth, rapid attacks, and sorcery. To unlock her:
- Defeat the first Nightlord boss – You must complete the Tricephalos Expedition and defeat Gladius, Beast of Night.
- Obtain the Old Pocketwatch – This relic drops after defeating Gladius.
- Return to the Roundtable Hold – Speak to the Priestess and select “Show her the Old Pocketwatch”.
- Watch the cutscene – The Priestess will reveal herself as the Duchess, permanently unlocking her as a playable character.
How to Unlock the Revenant
The Revenant is a summoner, capable of raising spirits to fight alongside her. To unlock her:
- Unlock the Duchess first – The Revenant’s questline only becomes available after unlocking the Duchess.
- Purchase the Besmirched Frame – Visit the Small Jar Bazaar in the Roundtable Hold and buy the Besmirched Frame for 1,500 Murk.
- Find the Phantom NPC – A ghostly figure will appear in the east wing of the Roundtable Hold.
- Interact with the Phantom – This will teleport you to the Tutorial Zone, where you must fight the Revenant and her spirit summons.
- Defeat the Revenant – Once defeated, she will be permanently unlocked as a playable character.
Unlocking Duchess and Revenant requires defeating bosses, collecting relics, and completing hidden objectives. While the Duchess excels in mobility and stealth, the Revenant is a powerful summoner, making both characters valuable additions to your team.
