How to watch Despicable Me and all the Minions movies in the correct order

As Gru and his Minions return to theaters this summer, there’s no better time to revisit the order in which to watch the entire franchise. The first installment of the franchise took place more than 14 years ago, and the most recent ones, those featuring Gru’s wacky and hilarious henchmen, act as prequels, with all the dance of dates and place in space-time that implies.

A critical and popular success, two of the films in the saga (Minions and Despicable Me 3) made it onto the select list of the 50 films with more than 1 billion grosses. We’ll see if the new one makes it, but if you want to catch up before you see it, here’s the chronological and release order of all the movies.
