Hugh Jackman on his return as Wolverine: “My gut says [I’m] not done”
It has been 25 years since the release of X-Men, Hugh Jackman’s most iconic role.

His participation in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has not been confirmed, but knowing what happened with Chris Evans, surely no one would bet their life on Hugh Jackman not appearing in the film. Whether it’s in this film or a future Marvel Studios production, the Australian actor is clear that the last time he donned Hugh Jackman’s claws was not in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’
“My gut says [I’m] not done,” Jackman said in an interview in The View. “But that’s just me. Marvel might have different ideas,” he added. However, knowing how popular his character is, it’s hard to imagine that Kevin Feige and company don’t have future plans for Jackman in the MCU.
The actor surely ended his role in 2017, when, after Logan, his character’s journey seemed to have come to an end. However, we saw him one last time in Deadpool and Wolverine, Marvel Studios’ most successful film in recent years, consolidating a popularity that remained on par with that of the loudmouthed mercenary played by Ryan Reynolds.

Furthermore, the return of the old guard of the X-Men (Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden...) only serves to confirm that Jackman still has a long way to go, especially considering that Wolverine is practically immortal and will outlive them all. The big question is what role awaits him, knowing that Marvel’s plans are to rejuvenate the group of mutants, with young actors and actresses in mind to play Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Magik, and company.
Avengers: Doomsday, an event full of big comebacks
Let’s not rule out Jackman’s return, but the reality is that Avengers: Doomsday will see the return of a host of classic MCU characters. After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that Chris Evans will return as Steve Rogers—though not as Captain America—while Chris Hemsworth will wield Stormbreaker once again. Alongside them, we will enjoy the presence of other “new” faces such as Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), and Lewis Pullman (Sentry), as well as another of the most eagerly awaited returns, that of Robert Downey Jr., although not as Iron Man/Tony Stark, but as the new villain, Dr. Doom.
