‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ gets a release date on Disney+, documental on the way

The James Mangold directed ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ finishes the Harrison Ford franchise with a bang, and now there’s a release date for Disney+.

Update:
Indiana Jones y el Dial del Destino

The best-known adventurer, archaeologist and tomb raider in cinema said his final goodbye in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ (James Mangold, 2023), the fifth and - it is assumed - final installment of the saga, at least with Harrison Ford as the protagonist . Although its journey at the box office did not garner the treasures that were expected by the studio, Indy will have a second life on Disney+, as the platform has confirmed on social networks. The adventure will resurface on the streaming service starting December 1.

“In one month, history’s greatest hero arrives on Disney Plus,” says the official account on X/Twitter. “‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’, streaming December 1.” As if that were not enough, there will also be a documentary that will chronicle Harrison Ford’s journey from his beginnings as Indy: “Discover the untold story of how Harrison Ford became Indiana Jones.” When? On the exact same date.

Will the entire saga be on Disney+?

The Indiana Jones film saga can now be enjoyed in full on Disney+, pending the arrival of Dial of Destiny’ in less than a month. ‘The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones’ is also available in select territories, for fans of the tv series. The box office of this last film does not call for optimism either, since it has performed much worse than expected by Disney and Lucasfilm.

Thankfully, while this last Indiana Jones movie is the final plotline for the hero on the big screen, it doesn’t mean that there arent any more stories on the way. Lucasfilm and MachineGames, the studio responsible for Wolfenstein: The New Order and its sequels at Bethesda, is working on a new video game, of which hardly any details are known. According to court papers leaked during the trial for the Activision Blizzard purchase operation, Xbox Game Studios plans to make it Xbox Series X/S exclusive on console, so the PS5 version is in principle ruled out.
