Is Gandalf in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim'?
Saruman the White has a role in the new animated film, voiced by Christopher Lee.
Nearly 200 years before the War of the Ring, Rohan lived in a time of relative peace until one of King Helm Ironhammer’s lieutenants began plotting to usurp the throne. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’ tells this lost story of Middle-earth as Héra fights to save her people. The king’s daughter, an exceptional warrior and rider, refuses to fulfil the role that society has assigned to her, that of a wife in the service of her future husband. What happens to the Wizards in this war, and does Gandalf appear at any point?

Are you there, Gandalf the Grey?
Saruman appears at the end of the adventure. The White Wizard has not yet been corrupted by Sauron, so he is given the title of Lord of Isengard. Meanwhile, Gandalf is already wandering around Middle-earth. At the end of the film, Hera receives a letter from the Wizard, summoning him to talk about something that is troubling him: the Rings of Power. Her protector asks her who the letter is from, and she replies that the writer goes by many names, but that some know him as Gandalf.
He is identified but does not appear. Ian McKellen did not appear in the film, although he may return for ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’, a live-action film that will run parallel to ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’.
‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’ has already been released in cinemas only.
