V Rising is finally out of Early Access, and almost immediately it’s taken over Steam charts and livestreams. What is it actually like, and is it really that good?
Short answer? Absolutely yes, if you have the opportunity, go buy and download V Rising. It’s an incredibly fun game that mixes top down action from games like Diablo with some intensely complex raid-style boss fights, all bundled together with survival and base building elements.
Long answer? Ah, my dear mortal friend, sit by the fire and let me regale you with the tale of V Rising, a game of vampiric delight! Imagine yourself in the shoes of a mighty vampire, awakened from centuries of slumber to a world ripe for conquest! Picture it: a land shrouded in darkness, teeming with creatures of the night and ancient secrets waiting to be unearthed.
In this captivating game, you shall roam a sprawling open world, a playground for the children of the night. But what actually is V Rising?
In simple terms, it is exactly as we explained at the start of this article: an isometric open world action game in which you play as a vampire, reawakened and debilitated, and in which your task is to hunt powerful beings to take their blood and grow powerful yourself. In so doing you’ll need to gather materials from the land and transform them into equipment, weapons, items, and of course, build a castle worthy of your legend for you to rule over your darkened territory.
It’s basically if you mixed the critically acclaimed viking survival game, Valheim, with the isometric action of Diablo, and threw in some of the most interesting bosses from the MMO Genre. Everything starts off quite simple, with you hunting for ore and lumber to craft your first sword or an axe, but it soons ramps up to you slinging bloody spells while fighting monstrous machines with a whip, scythe, or wielding supernatural guns.
Does V Rising have multiplayer?
Yes! In fact, while the game is completely enjoyable from beginning to end in solo play, V Rising is extremely fun when you join a PvP server. When you do so the open world suddenly becomes a warfront, with players making alliances to fight each other, raiding the castles created by others in the servers and looking at every shadow while you travel the roads.
Or, you can also create a co-op server where you and your friends can work together to bring down all of your enemies, accelerating crafting and fighting bosses together to make use of all of their special mechanics.
