It’s been 24 years since this blooper in ‘The Lord of the Rings’—one that wasn’t corrected in any subsequent version
Pippin’s hands are free, but in the next shot, they’re tied up.

No movie is free of mistakes, not even classics like the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson. There are several continuity errors throughout the three films, but this particular one can be seen in ‘The Two Towers.’ Neither the extended edition nor any subsequent versions has corrected the error.
At the end of ‘The Fellowship of the Ring,’ the orcs kidnap Merry and Pippin to take them to Saruman. They believe one of them is the hobbit who has stolen the One Ring. However, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli don’t give up: they follow the trail of the two hobbits with the intention of rescuing them.

Pippin’s Hands: Tied or Untied?
Aragorn follows clues, and the scene cuts to sequences showing Merry and Pippin fleeing from the orcs. The curious thing is that Pippin appears to have his hands tied at times, but right at the beginning of the scene, when a horse is about to trample him, his hands are completely free. In the next shot, he appears with his hands tied and tries to cut the rope with a knife he finds on the ground. Finally, he manages to free himself and flee into the thick of the forest.
