It’s official: Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the big reveal of Summer Game Fest—its first trailer is pure hype

The rumors have been confirmed: Square Enix made a huge splash at Summer Game Fest. The Japanese company has confirmed Final Fantasy 7: Revelation, the third installment of the remake project that will conclude this modern-day trilogy. The release date is set for spring 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Final Fantasy 7looks toward a multiplatform future

Although the project began as a PlayStation console exclusive, over the years Square Enix has prioritized releasing its games on as many platforms as possible. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was the last title to launch exclusively on PS5. Its sequel will be released on the same platforms as the last two installments.

In fact, fans of the series outside the PlayStation ecosystem have recently had reason to celebrate. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth arrived on June 3 for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Its release is significant because it represents an optimization effort that lays the groundwork for what’s to come.
