James Bond franchise producers detail what they want from the next 007: physical attributes, age, and patience

After ‘No Time to Die’, the people behind the James Bond 007 series have been carefully working on the future of the spy franchise.

James Bond, Daniel Craig

No Time to Die’ was the last James Bond film starring Daniel Craig and the last secret agent film that has been released to date. Since its debut in 2021, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have been working to find a suitable replacement, but the process is dragging on and it does not seem like it will be resolved in the near future. Names like Idris Elba or Aaron Taylor-Johnson, although at the moment nothing has officially come to light. “It is a great decision,” Broccoli stressed in statements to The Independent.

The producers may be silent about the actors they are talking about, they may not be going to reveal anything until they have it firmly tied up, but they do have a profile in mind about what they want for the new James Bond. A female version of the character is ruled out, as they are looking for a man in his thirties, not necessarily white, and who will play the character for at least a decade. What seems clear is that whoever it is, a period of accommodation will open in which audiences will have to get used to the chosen one, as already happened in the case of Daniel Craig. At first, there were people who did not agree with the choice, but time put things in place.

“Every time you hire a new actor, the movies change. “It’s the excitement of a new Bond, a new direction,” Wilson said. “Each person who took on the role offered something new and different.”

The next James Bond movie is coming for a while

In an interview with The Guardian, the head of Amazon MGM Studios, Jennifer Salke, has revealed that they have many ideas regarding the new actors. However, he has also made it clear that they are taking things calmly: “Fans will have to be patient. We don’t want too much time to pass between one movie and the next., but it is not something that worries us too much right now.”
