Jennifer Lawrence on her nudity in ‘Red Sparrow’: “I don’t want the robe, I’m hot”
The ‘Hunger Games’ star admits she made the crew uncomfortable by walking around naked on set.
Jennifer Lawrence has never shied away from bold roles, but her experience filming the provocative 2018 spy thriller ‘Red Sparrow’ took things to a new level. Known for her roles in ‘The Hunger Games’, ‘X-Men’, and more recently ‘No Hard Feelings’, the Oscar-winning actress opened up about how filming nude scenes for Red Sparrow actually empowered her, even if it made the crew a bit uncomfortable.
“Because I’d be like, I don’t want the robe. I’m hot. I’m eating.” she said to Fandomwire.

Jennifer Lawrence found confidence through vulnerability
Directed by Francis Lawrence, ‘Red Sparrow’ tells the story of Dominika Egorova, a Russian ballerina forced into a brutal espionage program where seduction is weaponized. The role required full-frontal nudity and emotionally intense scenes—something Lawrence had never done before.
Initially hesitant to accept the part, the actress explained that stepping into such a vulnerable role helped her let go of old insecurities and embrace her body with newfound confidence.
“Everybody made me feel so comfortable that I probably at a certain point started making everybody else uncomfortable,” she admitted. “I don’t have the same fear and insecurity in that one specific area that I used to. So you know I’m always gonna take on roles for the same reason.”
Lawrence also recalled how different this experience was compared to filming a sex scene with Chris Pratt in ‘Passengers’, during which she became “very, very drunk” to calm her nerves. That sense of vulnerability, she said, disappeared after Red Sparrow—and she proved it again in ‘No Hard Feelings’, where she appears fully nude in a now-iconic comedic scene.
