Jujutsu Kaisen season 4 officially announced with first Teaser for The Culling Game Part 2
MAPPA confirms the next chapter is in production, introducing a new director while maintaining creative continuity.
During the MAPPA 15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal, the animation studio unveiled the first official teaser for Jujutsu Kaisen’s fourth season, formally titled The Culling Game Part 2. The brief preview confirms that the new season is already in production, though no release date or broadcast window has been announced. You can watch the trailer, below:
The announcement comes shortly after the conclusion of Season 3, The Culling Game Part 1. That chapter premiered on January 8 with a one-hour special and wrapped up on March 26 with an extended 27-minute finale. Its ending left the story at a turning point, raising the stakes for Yuji Itadori and the remaining sorcerers as the consequences of the Culling Game begin to unfold fully.
What to expect from The Culling Game Part 2
Season 4 will adapt the second half of the Culling Game arc. As power dynamics evolve and survival becomes more uncertain, the arc pushes its characters into morally and emotionally complex territory. Outside of Japan, Crunchyroll is expected to remain the streaming platform once the series returns, although official confirmation has yet to be announced.
A key change in direction, with continuity assured
One of the most notable updates for Season 4 is a change in director. Takeru Satō has been confirmed as the new director for The Culling Game Part 2, after serving as assistant director of Season 3 under Shōta Goshozono. Although a change in direction, fans should not be worried in a harsh change with the series’s tone, pacing and visual language.
MAPPA is also retaining several key creatives behind the scenes. Hiroshi Seko returns to oversee series composition and scripts, ensuring a faithful adaptation of Gege Akutami’s manga. Composer Yoshimasa Terui is likewise back, preserving the musical identity that has defined many of the anime’s most intense moments.
