Keanu Reeves will voice Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic 3
The acclaimed actor will put down John Wick’s guns for a moment and lend his voice to the character who debuted in Sonic Adventure 2.
Shadow the Hedgehog will be one of the many characters appearing in the third live-action Sonic movie. And while his participation has been announced for quite some time, there have been no details about the actor chosen to voice him.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, several sources have mentioned the participation of Keanu Reeves as the voice of the character. This information comes a week after the studio presentation at CinemaCon, where Paramount revealed the first look at Sonic the Hedgehog 3, as well as the revelation that Jim Carey will come out of retirement to bring Dr. Robotnik, who is responsible for bringing Shadow to life, back to life.
At this time, it has not been confirmed that the Canadian actor behind some of the most iconic characters of the past 25 years is attached to the project, but if so, Reeves would join a large cast that includes James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Lee Majdoub, Idris Elba and Jim Carrey, as well as newcomers Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernandez and Jorma Taccone. This is not the first time Keanu Reeves has done voice work, as he brought to life Batman in DC League of Super-Pets and Duke Caboom in Toy Story 4. We also remember his great participation in Cyberpunk 2077 as Johnny Silverhand himself.
2024, the year of Shadow
It’s been a long time since Shadow made his debut in ‘Sonic Adventure 2′ for the SEGA Dreamcast, becoming one of the franchise’s anti-heroes. Just a few days ago, SEGA announced that 2024 will be the year of Shadow. This was announced by a trailer in anticipation of the release of Sonic x Shadow Generations, as well as the release of the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie.
