The BAFTA Awards are the most prestigious awards of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, but for some time now, they have also been showing up in the video game world from time to time, and every time they speak, causan un gran impacto. For example, the GOTY 2023 was chosen ahead of Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok. This year, they were looking for the most iconic characters in video games, and the top 20 they came up with is unforgivable.
Topped by Lara Croft, the ranking has two Baldur’s Gate 3 characters and finds Hitman’s Agent 47 more memorable than Pikachu, Crash Bandicoot or Cloud. Heads up:

Shelley Blond, the voice of Lara herself, commented on the award: “She means so much to the gamers. I love hearing stories from people around the world who played the game and channelled Lara to escape their bullies or to help them feel stronger when they wanted to come out to their loved ones. And most beautiful of all is hearing how gamers used to play it with their parents who are no longer with us and the sound of my voice, the music from the game and sound effects are all wrapped up in their memories of that loved one. I’m honoured to play a part in that for them.”
