Lara Croft of Tomb Raider returns to Fortnite with a new outfit based on the worst installment of the saga

Fortnite players who are also fans of Lara Croft’s adventures have a new reason to celebrate: Epic Games has revealed a new outfit for the intrepid adventurer, this time based on her appearance in the ill-fated Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (2003). This collaboration commemorates the recent release of Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered, a compilation that, as the name suggests, includes enhanced versions of the fourth, fifth and sixth installments of the franchise. This store outfit is a golden opportunity for Tomb Raider and Fortnite lovers, since the previous Lara Croft outfit that came to the game was exclusive to a previous Battle Pass and it is impossible to acquire it today.

Although it was a very popular rumor within the Fortnite community, the video game itself has confirmed it by decrypting its files before it arrives in the store. Fortnite will soon get a new Lara Croft outfit, but this time, instead of being inspired by Crystal Dynamics' reboot trilogy, this new Lara Croft is based on the look she had in the video game Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, which was released on PS2 and PC in 2003. Although it was a beloved release for many, it was a title that had many problems that resulted in bad reviews. It currently has an average score of 52 on Metacritic, making it widely considered the worst main game in the series. As you can see for yourself in these pictures, it is a very faithful design to the Lara of her own video games, so this new outfit is a great fit.

One of the most striking aspects of the outfit is that it has several customizable styles that allow you to slightly change the appearance of this Lara: from adding or removing her iconic sunglasses, to adding a vest, or alternating between long pants and shorts. Apart from that, her cosmetic items also make reference to The Angel of Darkness. The most interesting of them all is her pickaxe, the Chirugai, a weapon that would have been used by Kurtis Trent in the original game, but was discarded along with much more content in the final version. In the enhanced edition that is part of Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered, it has been properly programmed and it is possible to use it, which reinforces that this collaboration is to celebrate the release of the compilation. On the other hand, Lara’s gesture with the three parts of the Scion is a clear reference to 1996’s Tomb Raider, as finding the three parts of this mysterious artifact was what drove the feisty adventurer to travel halfway around the world.
