The new LoL Worlds 2023 format

The League of Legends World Cup presents a great novelty this time around: a Swiss style of competition. The new format starts from October 18 in the main phase of the event, and there are a total of 16 teams from the LCS of North America, LEC of Europe, LCK of South Korea, LPL of China and VCS of Vietnam.

The Swiss format will face the 16 teams of the Main Event in eight best-of-one games based on position. The system will carry out a draw in which the teams with the same results will be measured. A process that will be repeated over three more rounds, pitting teams with identical results against each other until achieving three wins to advance to the final phase or three losses to be eliminated from the World Cup. The first matches will be a match, but those that involve advancing to the next phase or elimination will be the best of three.
