Margot Robbie's full nudity in 'The Wolf of Wall Street' was her idea: "What she would do in that scene"

Martin Scorsese offered her a robe in case she felt uncomfortable in the scene, but the actress stood up and came up with the full nudity.

The Wolf of Wall Street" is not only one of the most popular films of Martin Scorsese’s long career, it was also the movie that was the definitive leap in the career of performers like Margot Robbie. The Australian actress embroidered the role under the tutelage of Leonardo DiCaprio, and years later it was she herself who revealed an intimate detail that changed the most spicy scene of the film: she decided to do a full nude, even though the director did not ask her to do so.

Full nudity in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ was Margot Robbie’s idea

“[Scorsese] said, ‘Maybe you can be wearing a robe if you’re not comfortable.’ But that’s not what she would do in that scene,” said the actress herself into the microphone of the podcast ‘Talking Pictures’, as reported by Variety. “The whole point is that she’s going to come out completely naked—that’s the card she’s playing right now.

But her story with the movie began the moment she walked into the audition. She had to shoot a scene in which she would end up kissing DiCaprio, but decided to improvise and change the script so that she would end up slapping the actor. “I thought, ‘I could kiss Leonardo DiCaprio right now, and that would be awesome. I can’t wait to tell all of my friends this.’ And then I thought nah. And just walloped him in the face. It was dead silent for what felt like an eternity but was probably three seconds.”

She continues, “They just burst out laughing. Leo and Marty were laughing so hard. They said, ‘That was great,’ I was thinking, ‘I’m going to get arrested, I’m pretty sure that’s assault or battery. Not only will you never work again, actually you will go to jail for this, you idiot.’ And also why did you have to hit him so hard? You should have done it lighter,” she concludes. The truth is that his audacity earned him a role that would change his life forever. Until then, she had only played small roles on television, such as in ‘Pan Am’ (2011), ‘City Homicide’ (2008), and ‘The Elephant Princess’ (2009).
