Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated titles for PlayStation 5 owners later this year, and of course with a great first title and spin-off the spotlight is on this sequel. This afternoon, as part of its panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Insomniac Games unveiled a new teaser focusing on the game’s story, as well as a look at the PlayStation 5-themed limited edition.
We’re going to heal the world
Insomniac Games’ presentation began with the new story trailer showing the return of Harry Osborn to Peter Parker’s life. During the panel (via PlayStation Blog), Senior Narrative Director Jon Paquette went into more detail about the story and characters. “Both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are struggling with their personal lives,” said Paquette. “Miles is trying to find time to write his college entrance essay, but he keeps procrastinating and focusing on Spider-Work instead. Meanwhile, Peter is underwater on payments for Aunt May’s house, but he can’t sell, it means too much to him. And just like Miles, Peter tries (and fails) to find balance with so many responsibilities. MJ wants to help Pete with the mortgage, but her job is on the line now that J. Jonah Jameson is back at the Bugle and looking to clean house.” You can watch the trailer below:
“The Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, enter new chapters in their lives as they balance their responsibilities as protectors of Marvel’s New York,” read the trailer description. “As Harry Osborne, Peter’s best friend, returns into his life, and Miles looks to build his future beyond high school, the relationship between our heroes is tested and strained as the Symbiote appears to threaten them, the city, and the ones they love.”
A new limited edition console is coming too
Also as part of the panel, Insomniac Games showed off the PlayStation 5 limited edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which will feature a symbiote takeover in its design. It will include the console, limited edition covers and DualSense, as well as a voucher for a digital copy of the game and pre-order items. Both the console covers and DualSense will be sold separately. Take a look at the trailer, below:
The release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was announced last month during the Summer Game Fest, revealing that it will be released on October 20th. At the same time, the Deluxe and Collector’s Editions were also announced.
