Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’ has wrapped up filming, with release planned well on its way for 2025

David Harbour has revealed that filming on ‘Thunderbolts’, Marvel’s upcoming villain-centric movie, has already finished filming.

Thunderbolts’, one of Marvel Studios’ most interesting upcoming projects for the MCU, has just wrapped up its filming and is ready to let VFX and editing do their part. This was revealed by David Harbour, who’ll be reprising his role as the Red Guardian from ‘Black Widow’ and who shared his enjoyment of the production on Instagram.

In the post you can see a fictional Soviet-era propaganda poster that includes his character, a counterpart to Captain America created by the Soviet Union of the MCU with powers and combat style very similar to that of Steve Rogers. However, the actor’s message was quite succinct: “Wrapped. Loved making this. Love the ‘bolts.”

With filming having wrapped up, the project now enters its post-production phase in which many people will transform the raw footage through editing, visual effects of all kinds, and of course music scoring and sound design. Disney and Marvel Studios had already confirmed that the movie would release in theaters on May 5, 2025, which means the studio has less than a year to complete these monumental tasks.

Prior to the release of ‘Thunderbolts’, Marvel fans will have a chance to enjoy two other MCU movies: ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is set to release on July 26, 2024, while ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is planned to premiere on February 14, 2025. When the villain team-up film releases, it’ll mark the conclusion of Phase Five of the MCU.
