Matt Reeves reveals major new cast members for The Batman II as production gets underway

After months of rumors, it has been confirmed that ‘The Batman II’, starring Robert Pattinson, will feature Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and Charles Dance in the upcoming Batman film directed by Matt Reeves.

It was the director himself who revealed the casting of these actors for the upcoming film via his X account (formerly Twitter), welcoming them to Gotham City and sharing GIFs of them from their previous work.

According to previous rumors, Sebastian Stan is expected to play Harvey Dent, the District Attorney who eventually becomes one of Batman’s most popular villains, Two-Face. Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson will play Gilda Dent, Harvey’s wife, who played a significant role in the famous story ‘The Long Halloween’, a key source of inspiration for Reeves’ Batman films. Finally, Charles Dance will play Harvey Dent’s father, Christopher Dent, an alcoholic who for years had an abusive relationship with his son, leading him to believe that the coin determined whether he would be punished or not.

‘The Batman II’ is now in production

Last week, it was revealed that filming for the movie had officially begun, with the release of the first behind-the-scenes images showing the Batmobile on a snow-covered road. Details about the film have not yet been revealed, but we know that key characters from the first film will return, including Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, aka “The Penguin,” and Con O’Neill as GCPD Chief Mackenzie Bock.

'The Batman: Part II' has a release date of October 1, 2027.
