Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the highly anticipated remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, is set to launch on August 28, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While PlayStation players will get the return of ‘Snake vs Monkey’, Xbox users will experience an exclusive mode: ‘Snake vs Bomberman’, where Naked Snake faces off against the iconic characters from Hudson Soft’s Bomberman series.

How does Snake vs Bomberman work?

Much like Snake vs Monkey, this mode challenges players to defeat Bombermen across various environments using explosives.

  • Hand grenades serve as the primary weapon.
  • Explosions follow the classic Bomberman cross-shaped blast pattern, requiring precise aim.
  • Bombermen fight back, launching bombs at Snake in chaotic encounters.
  • Some levels feature a top-down perspective, mimicking traditional Bomberman gameplay.

Why isn’t Snake vs Monkey on Xbox?

The Ape Escape franchise is owned by Sony, meaning Konami couldn’t secure rights to include the mode on Xbox. Instead, Bomberman —a Konami-owned IP—, was chosen as a replacement, ensuring Xbox players still get a fun bonus mode.

Will PC players get either mode?

Konami has not confirmed whether Snake vs Monkey or Snake vs Bomberman will be available on PC. Given past trends, it’s possible that PC players may miss out on these console-exclusive extras.

A throwback to platform-exclusive content

This decision echoes classic console exclusives from the PS2, GameCube, and Xbox era, where games like Soulcalibur II featured unique characters per platform (Heihachi on PS2, Spawn on Xbox, and Link on GameCube).
