Metroid Prime 4 is no longer just a logo, it’s real and it’s coming next year

After almost 7 years since its official presentation, Samus Aran and the Space Pirates are back and finally have a release window.

There was still E3, Reggie Fils-Aime was still president of Nintendo of America, and we were still in a console generation that now seems like the past. The first time Metroid Prime 4 was shown, it was with a short teaser, a “4″ on the screen, and we were hooked. 7 years later, the drought has finally been broken, and we have Samus Aran back, ready to take on the space pirates in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond.

As the title that closes this Nintendo Direct strong, we finally got a two-minute trailer with a feel that reminds us of Super Metroid. Past elements like scanning and first-person perspective continue, with classic “toys” like missiles or tools. The evil space pirates attack a research facility, and Samus responds to the distress signal.

The trailer also introduces us to Sylux, the antagonist who was introduced in Metroid Prime: Hunters and has made small appearances in other titles such as Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Metroid Prime: Federation Force. It seems that this villain from the planet Cylosis has allied himself with the Space Pirates, as this intergalactic criminal organization is also an enemy of Samus.

Considering how little the protagonist is equipped in the trailer, we understand that what is shown is part of the usual prologue that serves as the first contact for many of the video games in the saga, as the first Metroid Prime GameCube released in 2002 and had a remastered on Switch in 2023.

Although this trailer has arrived and we have a subtitle, we still have to wait for its arrival. Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will arrive sometime in 2025. But hey, if we have to wait 7 years, a few more months won’t be so complicated.
