Michael B. Jordan opens up about his Oscar win and reveals his favorite movie: “Dream big”

The ‘Sinners’ star once again demonstrates his love for anime and Studio Ghibli films.

Update:

The 2026 Oscars delivered another round of unforgettable on‑stage moments — everything from sweet to deeply emotional. But the magic didn’t stop when the ceremony wrapped up around 11:30 p.m. After winning his first‑ever Academy Award for Best Actor, Michael B. Jordan celebrated in the most relatable way possible: by heading straight to a popular burger joint. Outside the restaurant, he gave a quick street‑side interview where he opened up even more about what this milestone means to him.

Speaking with The People Gallery, Jordan said his Oscar is proof that dreaming big is always worth it. “Remember, no matter how big you dream, you can achieve it,” he said. “There will always be people who show up in your life, along the way, who help make good things happen. Be kind to each other, live with love and gratitude. I think that’s how dreams eventually come true.”

The interviewer then asked him — point‑blank — to name his all‑time favorite movie. Jordan didn’t hesitate for a second: “Princess Mononoke.” Once again, he made it clear he’s a huge fan of anime and Studio Ghibli films.

Michael B. Jordan fulfills a dream — with help from Ryan Coogler

Jordan’s first Oscar win — beating out Timothée Chalamet, who had been the favorite in many predictions — marks a defining moment in a career that’s already packed with standout roles. After anchoring the Creed trilogy and captivating audiences as the villain in Black Panther, he finally landed the role of a lifetime in The Sinners, where he played one half of a pair of twin brothers.

And part of that triumph belongs to director Ryan Coogler. He was the one who convinced Jordan to take the role and supported him every step of the way. Their creative partnership has always been strong, but this win makes it feel even more special.

Their bondboth personal and professionalis something genuinely remarkable.
