What’s new in the update?
The latest Xbox update introduces three major customization features:
- Pin Favorites to Home – Players can now pin up to three favorite games or apps to their home screen, ensuring they stay front and center even after launching other titles.
- Hide System Apps – Users can remove system apps from their recently played list, keeping the home screen focused on games and entertainment.
- Reduce Tile Count – A new setting (coming soon) will allow players to minimize the number of visible tiles, creating a cleaner, more streamlined home screen.
These features are rolling out first to Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings, with a broader release expected in the coming months. Beta Xbox insiders should be getting the first set of changes as well.
Beta #XboxInsiders will see the latest 2506 update (2506.250515-0220) released today, available at 2:00 p.m. PT. Check out the release notes for all the details! https://t.co/7ahYbk9cHT

Why does this matter?
For years, Xbox users have complained about the cluttered home screen, with tiles taking up too much space and limiting personalization. Microsoft has now responded directly to player feedback, making the home screen more flexible and user-friendly.
Eden Marie, Principal Software Engineering Lead for Xbox Experiences, explained:
“We’ve heard from many of you that Home should feel more like your space. Whether it’s surfacing your favorite games, hiding what you don’t use, or simply making Home feel less crowded, this update is a direct response to that feedback.”
This first set of changes should be out to Beta Xbox Insiders now.

When will the update be available?
The update is currently in testing with Xbox Insiders, meaning it will likely roll out to all users within the next few months. Players who want early access can join the Xbox Insider Program to test the features before the official release.
With new customization options, Xbox users can finally tailor their home screen to their preferences, making navigation faster and more intuitive. Whether you want a cleaner interface or quick access to favorite games, this update is a long-awaited win for Xbox fans.
