Buy and redeem directly from the Xbox App
Players can now purchase games, DLC, and Game Pass subscriptions directly within the Xbox App on iOS and Android, making transactions faster and more convenient. Game Pass Ultimate members also gain the ability to redeem perks—including exclusive in-game items and discounts—without needing to access a console or PC.
Stream owned games on Xbox consoles
A major new feature allows Game Pass Ultimate members to stream select owned games directly to their Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. This means players can jump into their games instantly without downloading them, saving storage space and reducing wait times. The update expands Xbox Cloud Gaming beyond the Game Pass catalog, letting users stream over 100 supported titles from their personal library.

Remote play moves to browsers
Previously, Xbox players could use the Xbox App on iOS and Android to remotely access and play games installed on their consoles. However, Microsoft has now removed this functionality, requiring users to access Xbox remote play via a web browser instead. The company states that this change will help optimize streaming performance and expand support to more devices, including Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, and Meta Quest headsets.
While the removal of remote play from the Xbox App may frustrate some users, Microsoft’s focus on browser-based access aims to improve compatibility and performance. Meanwhile, the ability to stream owned games to consoles offers a new level of convenience for Game Pass Ultimate members.
